Embraced by the sandy Costa Blanca beaches and caressed by the crystalline waters of the Mediterranean Sea, Alicante has a rich heritage built over thousands of years. Alacant (as it's known in Valencian) has a deep history ranging from the first tribes that arrived at the slopes of Mount Benacantil to Greeks, Romans and Moors. Nowadays, this modern city boasts a bustling harbour, great Spanish nightlife, charming old streets and modern beach resorts.
Overlooking the city from the top of Mount Benacantil, the Castle of Santa Barbara was built in the 9th century during Islamic rule. Cascading down the slopes towards the city centre, L'Ereta Park has terraced levels that offer stunning panoramic views of the city. The remains of the ancient Roman town of Lucentum are also just a few kilometres away.
Barrio de la Santa Cruz is the historic quarter, featuring narrow streets, old houses and cobbled steps. Framed by palm trees and covered with a snaking pattern of white, red and blue tiles, the Explanada de Espana is considered one of Spain’s most beautiful promenades.
After arriving at Alicante Airport, indulge yourself in a resort near San Juan beach, or enjoy the view of luxurious yachts moored at the marina from a cosy B&B: Booking.com has the perfect spot for you to discover the magic of Alicante!

Barbara Castle: walk up or get a lift (€3, over 65's free), historuc, good views. City walking tour by locals brought us to old town places we would have missed. MUBAG Art Museum had a Dali exhib, Portraits in a lovely old building. Trams are great for Costa Blanca beaches. Good bus services. Trains to Murcia. Music @ Teatro Principal as a Jazz festival was on (April). Very good restaurants - fish & seafood eg Dorada / Bream, Prawns; Tapas - we were happy with all our meals.

Lovely city.
Lovely city. Old town very compact with great restaurants and a nice buzz about the place. The beach is lovely with nice beach restaurants and bars dotted along that were reasonably priced.
Easy to get to/from airport by bus.

Lovely city close to the beach and marina.
Lovely city close to the beach and marina. Tourist attractions such as Santa Barbara Castle and The Ocean Race were free.
The Castle is well worth visiting, with wonderful views of the city and sea. I was disappointed that the toilets were filthy and lacking basic amenities such as toilet paper and hand dryer. There's a fee of €2.70 for the lift. However, I would have preferred to pay a small entrance fee and have clean toilets. There's a nice cafe at the top with great staff.
I would not recommend Alicante for solo travellers. It's very couple or groups orientated and the staff in restaurants are not friendly for lone travellers.
I also found food and drink prices very expensive.

Alicante is a lovely city and you even have a decent beach so it really is the best of both worlds. Good tram system. 45 mins to Benidorm and also 2.5 hours to Valencia for any other day trips outside of Alicante.

A city full of history with many interesting places to visits.I recommend the two Arts Museums and a visit to Santa Barbara Castle for the views.La Esplanada is great for a stroll and a drink at night.I ate out every day in a different restaurant and found the food choices varied and good and reasonably priced,I usually eat Spanish food on holiday but also had dinner in a Moroccan restaurant which was excellent. There is a wide variety of other types of meals available to suit all tastes.Used the C6 bus from and to the Airport. It runs regularly(I caught one at 6am to the airport)and costs 2.80 euros although as a pensioner I only paid 1 euro. The only thing I would warn about are the pavements. They are quite uneven in some places especially the older streets and I nearly took a fall.A lady passing warned me to keep an eye on where I was walking and I followed her advice safely for the rest of my visit.

My 2nd night there I was jumped by 2 black males.
My 2nd night there I was jumped by 2 black males. My phone was stole and left very shaken. The police were absolutely useless. No help what so ever. My phone had all my details on it and was very important to me. I was able to supply the IMEI No. To trace it but Police said NO we don't trace But if we find it we will contact you.. Sat in the Police station for ½day for no reason. Very dissapointed..
Other than that, the town itself is absolutely beautiful, very well priced, stunning views e.t.c , my horrendous start to the holiday wouldn't stop me going back but I definitely will be taking better precautions.
I have been in many holiday apartments and studios but never one as outstanding as this. It must be the apartment with the most complete inventory in Spain. The location is superb, cross the street to the beach, walk 2 minutes tot Alicante center, sit in the sun on the balcony, 2 bathrooms and very comfortable beds, everything you seek on your holiday you will find here. Your gentleman-host Miguel can answer your every question and keeps in contact by whatsapp, he is one more reason to choose for this apartment
Maybe I was just unlucky but it was the least social hostel I've ever been in. It seemed to be fully booked but I didn't really meet any people in the common area.
Common area is adorable btw. Beds have dark curtains so it's dark even if there's a light on in the room.
Beds are very comfortable, everything is very clean, there's a self check in and location is just perfect.
The city centre, the castle, the coastline, the bus station - everything in a walking distance.
Alicante is beautiful and very walkable.
I recently stayed at the La Lonja Hotel in Alicante, Spain and I was very impressed/shocked that The hotel was very clean and well-maintained. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the rooms were comfortable. The breakfast looks delicious but I had only drank a cup of coffee, anyway there was a great selection. The location was great for sightseeing and exploring the city. The hotel also provides complimentary Wi-Fi.I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a wonderful stay in Alicante.
We spend this summer roadtripping through Spain and this was the best accomodation we stayed during our trip!
It is a beautifully renovated old house with patio just oustide the city center of Alicante. We stayed in a studio and it had everything we needed for a short stay. The studio we stayed looked also just renovated and was very modern, clean and crisp! The owner also called when we arrived and was very helpfull with guiding us into the house. We definitely recommend this place!
Great location, great staff and beautiful apartment! Felt like a luxury hotel with daily cleaning, changing the towels, bedsheets, conplementary coffee and tea. It is very close to the city center and you can see Saint Barbara Castle from the balcony, waking up with a nice view. The room is very cozy and clean. Alain is very nice and helpful and he sents all the details that you need. Definitely recommend it for a great accommodation experience in Alicante!
The location was great. The hotel is right across the basilica. The hotel is in old building, its lovely, narrow corridors, it's cozy. It has a nice terrace, we did not make use of it but people were enjoying their evenings. They were so friendly that they let us check-in a bit earlier because we arrived quite early to Alicante. It's close to the city centre, we walked to the city and an just 10 minutes walk to the metro station to go to the beach.
Hotel is located outside the city centre - 50 min walk - but has no. 23 bus service immediately outside which makes travel to/from the city very convenient. It is also a 20 min walk or 6-7 min bus ride to the nearest tram station and 20 min walk to Albuferta beach. Lovely informed staff. Very clean and rooms serviced daily. Pool and sun bathing area are good. Did not use restaurant but looked busy with good breakfast and dinner buffets.
Fabulous location, right in the heart of the old town. The building itself is steeped in history, a former nunnery. Bars and restaurants are just outside the front door.. rooms are soundproofed and are impenetrable by any external noise. The staff were amazing, especially Emiliano who was most helpful in sharing his knowledge of the local area, which in turn, ensured that we saw the best of Alicante during our stay.
Location perfect... and the staff were very attentive and helpful. The hotel overall is amazing and my partner and I loved it. The Christmas/New Year period we spent at Melia Alicante was made extra special by your hotel. The restaurants, bars and service provided certainly warrant its four star rating. We can't thank you enough... and we had ring-side seats from our balcony for the 1st of January fireworks!!!
Breakfast It’s the perfect blend of local flavors and international favorites, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Room at the hotel are a blend of comfort and elegance. The hotel’s location is its biggest asset. It’s a stone’s throw away from key attractions and business centers. The convenient location makes it easy for guests to explore the city, whether they’re here for leisure or work.
Friendly staff who were very helpful. Room was solid, AC takes a minute to kick in but quite good for the cost. The interior of the hotel is nice, the exterior less impressive. Location is a bit out of the way but good if you want to be between Alicante center and San Juan beach to the east. Property is a 7 but the staff are a 10 so I rounded to an 8. All in all a good experience!
Amazing hotel! The location is 10 out of 10 ! So easy to go to Alicante city centre and if you want to enjoy beach experience the San Juan Plaja is just around the corner! The food also surprised me! There was decaf coffee and sugar free bakery! Absolutely loved EVERYTHING about the hotel! Also worth it to mention the cleanliness! Wow! Impressed!
We went to Alicante for the bonfires of San Juan and this hotel was a great place to stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful with advice on where to go for the best views. Hotel is close to the city centre and not too far from the beach
The hotel is in an excellent location for exploring Alicante. Having a near 180 degree of the harbour and main street was a real bonus. Staff were engaging and friendly. Highly recommended to those with a day or two to spend in the city.
Great hotel in a perfect city centre location, it will be our 'go to' hotel for future visits to Alicante.
Beware...we will be back!!
Fantastic shower in the room, very spacious.
Breakfast was great too.
Highly recommended.
The room was really clean, spacious and with nice interior, just like the hotel itself. Besides, I guess we had one of the most beautiful views on Alicante from our balcony. The location of this hotel is also a big advantage.
Brilliant hotel so close to the airport, but very quiet (no plane noise).
Great size rooms, and ideal for a toddler. Swimming pool was excellent.
Very accessible to Alicante city centre.
Excellent staff and impeccable hotel. Probably the best hotel bed I have had the pleasure of sleeping in. Location is also excellent, 5 minute walk from the beach. Definitely staying again!
